The First Samsung Printer Assembly Plant in Ethiopia starts operation

Samsung Electronics jointly with Tana Communication P.L.C , inaugurated the first Samsung printer assembly plant in Ethiopia with a capacity of assembling 70 printers a day creating 200 jobs.

Tana communications P.L.C was established in 2008 with initial capital of 100 million birr to enhance comprehensive national economic development with a mission to create favorable system infrastructure, environmental conditions and business opportunities to enable Ethiopia to become a world class electronic manufacturing hub in Africa as well as a formidable competitor in the global electronic manufacturing market.

The plant is a first of a series of agreements in technology transfer and investment between the Samsung and the Ethiopian government in June 2013. Opening of the plant will bring printer assembly engineers from Korea in order to equip local talent with necessary skills for running the assembly.
